We have recently discovered that Diablo 4’s seasons will require players to create a new character for each new battle pass, leading many members of the Diablo community to request the return of the Rebirth feature.
In Diablo 4, each season necessitates the creation of a fresh character to partake in the new quests and content introduced during that specific season. When a season concludes, your seasonal character is transferred to the eternal realm, also known as the main game, and you must create a new character for the upcoming season. Starting anew can be a daunting task, particularly if you have invested hours perfecting the appearance of your character.
Diablo 3 presented an intriguing solution to this predicament through the Rebirth feature, which allowed players to transform a non-seasonal character into a seasonal one. During the Rebirth process, the non-seasonal character would revert back to level one and transfer their equipped gear to the main game. Essentially, this feature erased any progress made by the character, while retaining their name, appearance, and total playtime. Although bidding farewell to progress would have been challenging, numerous demon-slayers desired the ability to carry a single character across multiple seasons.

Diablo’s community manager has officially acknowledged the popularity of the Rebirth feature among players. In a statement, community manager Adam Fletcher stated, “Rebirth isn’t currently a feature in Diablo 4, but we have received this request numerous times, and the team is aware of it.” Fletcher’s mention of the feature not being present “yet” suggests the possibility that Diablo 4 might incorporate its own version of Rebirth in the future, although this remains speculative at this point.
This news is particularly welcome as Diablo 4 is on the verge of introducing its first seasonal content update called Season of the Malignant later this month. However, for players who have exhausted their in-game activities, the Blizzard team advises taking a break and exploring other gaming experiences.
